What is this story?

Exploring my central question, message, story.

Through both secondary research and primary research at this point, I should have managed to create a nice dataset for myself to work off of. My dataset may be small but it represents real women, real experiences, and real births. This is where I want to start my story.

What is my central question?

I want to look into the timelines regarding the popularity of homebirths; and what this timeline says. Women in the early 19th Century would have chosen homebirth as it very well may have been their only option... Whereas women in the 21st Century chose home births for very different reasons.

I am interested in telling the story of how often homebirths and the use of midwives occur, and the reasons behind them. Using my secondary research I will be able to gather historical data both local and worldwide, but I may focus my sites geographically on the Americas.

Utilizing my primary research I will get a more personal look into trends regarding birth years and motivations.

Side Note: Look into the set-up, conflict, and resolution of the story when creating graphs (like a timeline) to look for trends.
